After setting up base in Óbidos and creating a great experience near the Portuguese capital, the team here at KiteControl decided they wanted to explore other great areas of the country, ultimately bringing the same joyous experience that’s in place near Lisbon, to this wonderful place called Moledo. Just like with Óbidos, our Kitesurfing Camp in Moledo may be the perfect spot for you. You just need to love good vibes, great weather conditions for watersports (especially kitesurfing), and to be ready to develop your kitesurfing skills with a high level of progression, while experiencing a very welcoming and varied local life during your time off the board.

You might be wondering if coming to a kite camp is the right decision for you, so we’ll cover the basics here. Kite Camps, in our opinion, are a great tool for one to make progress with their kitesurfing abilities. This is true for a multitude of reasons; the main one being the repeated training it allows you to do. As with most skills, kitesurfing repeatedly and practicing as frequently as possible, will yield the best results. This isn’t true when having to come back one or two days at a time, always dealing with the hassle of planning and trying to get good weather every time, which can be very tricky. These things may also make you switch spots and/or practice with the lessons too far apart from each other. Both of these things will make it harder for you to learn, not only because you’re not as familiar with the spot if you switch between them, but also due to the inability to nurture muscle memory.

The time you’ll spend here kitesurfing is tailored to everyone’s needs, aspirations, and goals. Either if you are a beginner or an independent rider, you will learn from having a kitesurfing instructor, making sure you use your time wisely.

When learning a new skill, if we wait too long before practicing again; be it in kitesurfing, judo or kart racing, we tend to forget what we have learned, since muscle memory hasn’t been developed yet. By staying at our kite camps, you’ll be able to repeat exercises, with our help, at a more efficient rate, and we’ll always guarantee that you choose the best conditions for each session. Being at the camp allows for a bigger timeframe to choose your weather from. On the contrary, one- or two-day trips can be very limiting in this regard. If you want to get better at kiting, this is a prime method. You’re simply able to train day after day, with well-versed athletes by your side and taking some of the best classes available brought to you by our IKO / FPVELA certified staff and courses.

But these aren’t the only reasons for you to stay at our kite camps. Perhaps you’ll find it very welcoming and interesting to learn kitesurf while having the chance to interact with like-minded people and just having a good time all around. You’ll have lessons, but we promise this isn’t as boring as going to school, there’s no detention here :p, have fun! If you want, you’ll be able to gather newly made friends around to enjoy a beer at the end of the day and exchange notes about your last kite session with your fellow students and everyone else that was out on the water, honing your skills and learning from the best.

Other than this, in between lessons (or even before and after them), you’ll have the splendid opportunity of visiting Moledo and its surroundings, which would warrant a trip all by itself. Moledo has a long sandy beach with great conditions for kiting, but there are also other things to do so people can have a really nice time there. Help yourself to a seafood-charged meal accompanied by a glass of some of the world’s best wines, all this while bathing in the comforting sunlight. It’s also near Spain, 1 hour from Vigo in Spain, it’s only 50 minutes from Porto and generally easily accessible. We can definitely help to organize transportation from the airport to the kite spot. There are a lot of places to visit, including good restaurants, and it’s even relatively close to Gerês national park, never forgetting the huge selection of beaches around these areas. Whether your trip is comprised 100% of kitesurfing and resting or if you want to explore, we can help our visitors to get around, while organizing other activities, creating a full experience compared to regular lessons.
